You’ve found us!
And now we’d like to invite you to come on out and
get involved in Youth Ministry here at St. Andrew’s!
This ministry is geared towards
all young people in Grade 6 to University—
So we know it’s a place for YOU!
Check out just a few things that are going on right now:

Church school and youth classes
are offered for children during the service of worship.
Youth meet upstairs in the youth room and
children are signed in upstairs in the Church School room
before the beginning of the service.
They will rejoin their families in the service after the offering.

Sunday Mornings   Special Events
Fresh Start
January 8 -29
Why is it so hard to change? At the beginning of a new year people make resolutions, but how many actually follow through on them?
Jesus promises to make us into new creations if we follow Him. What does that look like, and how do we do it?
Transfiguration
February 19
On Transfiguration Sunday we’ll look at this amazing moment in the earthly life of Christ.

Radical Love
February 5 & 12
In a two-week series that covers PWS&D Sunday and the week of Valentines, we’ll talk about love as an action, not just a feeling.
Lent
February 26 - March 25
In a four week series we’ll consider the season of Lent and the ideas of sacrifice and purity that go along with it. We will be challenged to pick a Lenten sacrifice and to stick to it for all 40 days.
Friday Evenings
Names of God
January 6 - 27
Who is this God anyway? We should know who it is we serve. Each week through interactive experiences we’ll work to deepen our understanding of the
character of God.
*January 13 - Library visit with Virginia.
Sacred Pathways
February 10 & 17
Does sitting quietly for an hour with just your Bible sound heavenly or hellish? Does the idea of evangelizing door-to-door fill you with energy or with dread? Learn about the different ways different people feel close to God, and learn about how God wired you.
Service Project
February 3
We will give of our time together to do a service
project in our community. Stay tuned for more
information soon.
Disciplines
February 24 - March 16
We’ll consider what it means to have self-discipline as we work through times of fasting,
prayer, celebration and service.
F 24: Fasting 30-Hour Famine
M 2: Prayer World Day of Prayer
M 9: Celebration Show and Tell
M 16: Service
A day of service to
finish off March Break week.

Help Needed!

If you are ever able to be present with the youth group
for a movie night and a free supper on a Tuesday from 4-7 p.m.,
please let Cordelia know.
Our goal is to have drop-ins every other week;
our next event will be a Jr. Youth night on January 31st.
Without a second adult present we cannot run our events
and will have to cancel them.

If you have the time from 6:30 - 9:00 p.m. on a Friday night to
come in, even just once this year, please let Cordelia know.
We especially need help during the
second half of February and all of March.
Thank you all for your prayers, support and
encouragement for these ministries!

Youth and Children's Ministries Info Night
If you are a parent of a youth or child who is a part of this church,
(or if you are just interested in youth and children's ministries here
at St. Andrew's,) and you are interested in hearing about
all our upcoming plans or in sharing your own ideas or
asking questions, we will be having an open information session
and discussion on Tuesday, January 31st from 8-9 in the church library.

Youth Leadership Team/Christian Education Committee
Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers
they succeed. – Proverbs 15:22
If you have thoughts about the youth leadership team
or a Christian Education committee, please let Cordelia know,
at the information session, at coffee hour,
or at youth@standrewsguelph.com

Do you have a story of God’s provision in your life?

Consider ministering to the young people
of St. Andrew's by sharing a 5-minute story of a time
God provided in your life.
We are looking for 2 or 3 people to share
on the evening of Friday, February 3rd,
at around 6:30 p.m.
Please talk to Cordelia to volunteer
or to get more information. Thank you!

Parent Freedom Night, February 11
Want a little free time for Valentine's?
We’ll be hosting the Hawiian Luau-themed Valentines Vacation Night.
The youth will have a great night of fun and games planned
from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. for hosting children ages 2-10,
$10 per child, visitors and friends welcome!

Plan to come back at 8:45 to see what we've been up to before pick-up.
Please pre-register with Cordelia soon
by email youth@standrewsguelph.com
- it'll help with planning the evening!

Lunch Time!
After the service on February 12th, plan to stick around
for lunch! The youth of St. Andrew's will be preparing and serving
a chilli lunch to raise money for our trip to
the Presbyterian youth conference, CY2012.
Chilli, bun, side salad, drinks and dessert
all for only $8 an adult, $5 for children 12 and under!

Do you want to make a difference in the lives of youth?
If you are over 18 and you can get a police check,
we need you!
No youth event can run without a second adult present.
If you can give a little time on a Tuesday afternoon, a Friday evening,
or occasionally on Saturdays, please let Cordelia know!
You don't need to teach, we need adults just to be
there with us, to make our events possible, and
to show the youth they are a valued and connected part of this church.

GENERAL NOTES
Youth ministry always has and always will be an ALL-INCLUSIVE ministry.
It is never meant to exclude anyone due to financial constraints.|
If you are unable to afford the cost of an event please speak with the minister
and we will make the necessary arrangements so no one misses out
on these wonderful opportunities.
Anyone wishing to make a financial contribution to assist with those
who may not be able to afford our youth events please speak to
the minister as well.
Together we can all make a positive influence on the lives of our youth
and help keep them connected with Christ.
